That’s it! A very, very enjoyable game to watch and that means Arsenal are still behind their neighbours in the title race. Great character from Arsenal to get back into that – Francis Coquelin will feel like a very lucky lad not to have completely thrown that away. Arsenal were actually better once they’d conceded two goals.
Alexis Sanchez rescued a point for 10-man Arsenal as Tottenham failed to fully capitalise on Francis Coquelin’s red card in a 2-2 draw at White Hart Lane.
Spurs remain two points adrift of leaders Leicester with Arsenal another three further back following a pulsating north London derby.
The hosts dominated the opening exchanges but Arsenal grew into the game and took a lead into half-time when Aaron Ramsey flicked Hector Bellerin’s low pass past Hugo Lloris six minutes before the break.
The Gunners started the second half in comfortable fashion until Coquelin was sent off after collecting his second yellow card for a rash 55th-minute challenge on Harry Kane.
Spurs then turned the game on its head with two goals in as many minutes around the hour mark.
Toby Alderweireld slotted in a half-volley from close range to bring the home side level before Kane curled in a stunning goal from the left side of the penalty area.
Arsene Wenger made a positive change by replacing Mohammed Elneny with Olivier Giroud and the substitution paid dividends almost immediately.
Bellerin threaded a pass into the path of Sanchez, who didn’t hit his shot cleanly but the ball beat Lloris to sneak inside the far post 14 minutes from time.
