Cristiano Ronaldo admitted that he wished he had the left foot of eternal rival Lionel Messi as relations between the two superstars looked better than ever ahead of the Ballon d’Or.
The pair were joined by fellow nominee Neymar for a press conference ahead of tonight’s gala in Zurich, where Messi is expected to win the big prize.
And Ronaldo took the opportunity to lavish rare praise upon the man who has pipped him to the world player of the year award four times.
“What would I want from Messi? His left foot is really good, I’d like to have that,” before Neymar interjected “I’d like to have both!”.
Messi was also keen to minimise any previous animosity between the pair.
“I don’t feel envy [towards Ronaldo]. That’s a negative trait.
“I like Cristiano. I am the way I am and he is the way that he is.”
The Argentine also revealed that he’d swap five Ballon d’Or trophies for just one World Cup after the heartbreak of losing the 2014 final to Germany at the Maracana.
“It is the peak,” he said.
