2015 is gone with its high and low and 2016 is fresh, full of
hope. Adult-U takes a look at seven Nigerian artistes who need to
release an album in 2016 to continue their rise, end long droughts or
make up for dismal efforts in 2015.
Davido
Since he made his debut in the music scene on On May 7, 2011 with
Back When and subsequent release of his debut album, Omo Babaolowo Olowo
album in 2012, and his career has been on a steady rise.
His sophomore album, The Baddest, was moved from last year to 2016
despite agitations from fans for the release. With banging singles
including- money, Dodo, The Sound, Fans mi off the album, we already
have an idea of what to expect from the OBO.
David’s current trouble with his baby mama trouble is also expected
to delay the release of the album but Naij.com cannot confirm what
period of the year the anticipated musical body of work will be
released.
Iceprince
An album from the Chocolate City Music vice-president, Ice Prince, is
expected in 2016 as the label’s President and rapper, M.I is expected
to release his fourth album, Young Denzel.
Ice had a quite 2015 expect for the hit- Boss. He however needs to
gather momentum for the release of his third album unless he wants to
pull a Beyonce.
Vector
Bagging two heads at the just concluded controversial 2015 Headies
awards, Vector should be confident enough to release his third studio
album.
He has successfully bounced back from the court case he had with his
erstwhile label, YSG and has released singles which have continued to
enjoy airplay and receive positive comments from critics and fans.
Lafiagi, title of the third album should be expected mid-2016.
Patoranking
Whayasay! The dancehall/pop star consolidated on the success of 2014
in 2015 with banging singles including Daniella Whine, My Woman and Make
Am, Patoranking is expected to release his debut album.
Lil Kesh
After missing out of winning the now controversial Headies award Next
rated, the YBNL star is expected to turn his disappointment into
blessing with a good debut album.
With the success achieved with released singles and expected
production works from Young John and Pheelz, Kesh’s album is highly
anticipated by fans and critics alike. He’s also expected to return the
trust Olamide has in him with a successful musical body of work.
Wizkid
Just like Davido, Wizkid is expected to release his third studio
album after yet another successful year. His single, Ojuelegba was
ranked number 12 in the world by a US magazine. Same song got a remix
from in-form rapper, Drake while it won Nigeria’s song of the year at
the just concluded controversial Headies awards.
As expected, the album will come with some international
collaboration and of course hits. We however don’t know when the album
will be released as Wizkid is known for not keeping to dates- and time
too.
Kiss Daniel
He ended year 2015 with the single Goodtime and also pen an article
to his fans assuring them of his dedication to work and promise to
deliver a good debut album.
The singer is poised to have a smooth 2016 and with a working formula
with producer of the year, Dj Coublon, Kiss Daniel’s album is among the
anticipated albums of the year.
